Effective date: October 18, 2026. This covers the Shingle web app (get5krealty.com/shingle/app/) and the Shingle page (get5krealty.com/shingle/).
Who makes Shingle: 5K Realty (Ingold Group Properties, LLC), a licensed real estate brokerage.
The short version
Most of what you enter in the app stays on your device.
Shingle sends information in three cases only. If you give a phone number, we text you a one-time code to confirm it. When you accept the disclaimer, 5K Realty keeps a record of your acknowledgement and you get a copy. When you send the "Talk to 5K Realty" form, it goes to 5K Realty through our form service. We only contact you if you ask us to.
Some pages (the Shingle page, the Shingle terms, and the disclosures page) use a simple visit counter from our hosting provider, which doesn't use cookies. The app itself blocks it.
We don't sell your information, and there are no ads.
What the app stores on your device
Everything you enter is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. That includes your name, ZIP code, NC or SC choice, property details, showing times, buyer checklist marks, offers you type in, reply templates, listing text, timeline dates, yard sign settings, your last backup date, and the disclaimer version you accepted and when.
We don't receive any of it.
Offline cache: the app saves its own files (code, styles, fonts, and images) on your device with a service worker, so it opens without a connection. That cache holds no personal information.
Your yard sign: the QR code and PDF are made on your device.
Backups: "Export backup" saves a file of your Shingle data wherever you choose, such as Files or Drive. That file is yours. We never see it unless you send it to us. "Import backup" reads the file on your device only.
To delete everything, go to Settings and tap "Start over," or clear this site's data in your browser. Delete any backup files you saved yourself.
Buyer documents and proof of funds
Shingle doesn't upload, receive, or store buyer documents, pre-approval letters, or proof of funds. Buyers send those to you directly. Shingle only keeps the checkmarks you set, on your device.
Confirming your phone number
Before you sign, Shingle asks you to confirm your phone number with a one-time code.
What is sent for the code. Your phone number goes from your device to our server, and from there to our text-message provider, which texts you the code (or calls you if you ask). The code you type goes the same way so it can be checked. The provider does not get your name, address, email, or anything else you enter. Those go only in the receipt described below, which 5K Realty keeps.
Our text-message provider. It sends and checks the code for us, and processes your phone number and delivery details under its own privacy policy. We don't use it to send you anything else.
A short security check. To stop automated abuse, the code step runs a short security check in your browser instead of a puzzle. It looks at technical signals from your browser and device to tell people from bots, and does not use them for advertising. When you ask for a code, our server sends the check result and your internet (IP) address to our hosting provider to confirm it.
What we keep. To limit how many codes can be sent, our server keeps short-lived counters, keyed by phone number or internet address. A counter of code checks per phone number expires after 10 minutes. Counters of codes sent per phone number and per internet address expire after 1 hour. A daily total of codes sent, which is not tied to any person, expires after 24 hours. We don't store the code. Whether your phone was confirmed, and when, is added to your acknowledgement receipt.
Message and data rates may apply. You get one text, one resend, and then one call. We only contact the number you enter, and only when you ask for a code.
Text message codes
One-time security code only. The only texts Shingle sends are the one-time codes you ask for to confirm your phone. No marketing, no other messages.
Stop. Reply STOP to a code text to stop getting texts from that number.
Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your disclaimer acknowledgement receipt
Before you use the app, each owner types their full name to accept the disclaimer, and you enter the property address, city and ZIP, state, and a phone number or an email (or both). If you give a phone number, you confirm it with a one-time code. When you tap Accept and continue, you get your own copy and 5K Realty keeps one: your copy downloads to your device as a PDF, and if you gave an email, Shingle also opens an email draft of it addressed to you in your own email app. Shingle sends a receipt to 5K Realty, which keeps it in a database that 5K Realty controls. The receipt holds the owner names, property address, city and ZIP, state (NC or SC), the phone and/or email you gave, the disclaimer version and its effective date, the date and time you accepted, and whether and when your phone number was confirmed. It does not include the code, your internet (IP) address, or details about your device. Nothing else you enter in the app is sent with the receipt. To limit abuse, our server counts receipts by internet address in a short-lived counter that expires after 1 hour.
We keep your receipt as our record that you accepted the disclaimer. 5K Realty does not use it to contact you. We only contact you if you ask us to, for example with the Talk to 5K Realty form. 5K Realty keeps receipts for 10 years, then deletes them, unless they become part of a home sale we handle, in which case we keep them as long as state brokerage rules require. The receipt is not emailed or sent to our form service. Only 5K Realty can see stored receipts, through a sign-in protected owner page. 5K Realty also keeps a backup copy of receipts in its own private cloud storage, saved once a day. Only the newest 90 daily backup files are kept, and older ones are deleted. A deleted backup file can stay in that storage's recently deleted folder for up to 30 more days. If you are offline, the app tries again when you reconnect, and you can send it from Settings.
Your own copy stays on your device. In Settings you can download it as a PDF or use Email me my copy, which opens your own email app with the details filled in. Shingle does not send that email for you.
We will only contact you if you request it.
The "Talk to 5K Realty" form
When: only when you fill it out and tap Send.
What is sent:
What you type in: name, phone, email, property address, city or ZIP, state, what you need help with, the best time to reach you, and your message
Which page or screen you sent it from
A subject line made from your name and city or ZIP
Who processes it: our form service receives the form and emails it to 5K Realty. It also keeps a copy of each submission in 5K Realty's account under its own privacy policy.
How we use it: only to contact you about your home. We don't sell it or share it for marketing.
Retention: 5K Realty keeps Talk to 5K Realty messages for 5 years and disclaimer receipts for 10 years, then deletes them, unless they become part of a home sale we handle, in which case we keep them as long as state brokerage rules require. We will only contact you if you request it.
Filling out the form doesn't create an agency relationship with 5K Realty, and it doesn't sign you up for calls or texts beyond replying to you.
Analytics
These pages use a simple visit counter from our hosting provider: the Shingle page (get5krealty.com/shingle/), the Shingle terms (get5krealty.com/shingle/terms/), and the disclosures page (get5krealty.com/disclosures/). It doesn't use cookies or local storage to count visits, and it doesn't fingerprint visitors.
The Shingle app (/shingle/app/), this privacy policy, and the Shingle support page block the analytics script, so it doesn't run there.
The disclosures page also loads the Inter font from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers when that page opens. See Google's Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Like any website, our hosting provider handles the network requests when you load the site, under its own privacy policy.
When you leave Shingle
Some buttons open other apps or sites, but only when you tap them:
- Call, Text, and Email open your own phone, messages, or email app. Anything you send goes from your own account.
- Links to official forms and notices (NC Real Estate Commission, SC LLR, EPA, HUD) open those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If Shingle starts sending anything else off your device, this policy will be updated before that change goes live.
