Common questions

Where is my information saved? Almost all of it stays on your device, in your browser's local storage. There's no account, so we can't see it or restore it for you. Two things leave your device during the start-up step: your phone number, if you give one, so we can text you a one-time code to confirm it, and a receipt of your disclaimer acknowledgement (owner names, property address, phone, email, date and time, disclaimer version, and whether your phone was confirmed), which 5K Realty keeps as its record (you get a copy too). We only contact you if you ask us to. The "Talk to 5K Realty" form is sent only if you fill it out and tap Send. See the privacy policy.

How do I back it up? Go to Settings, then Back up your data, and tap "Export backup." Save the file to Files or Drive. To restore, tap "Import backup" and pick that file. Shingle reminds you if it's been more than 7 days.

Can I use it offline? Yes. After you open it once, it works without a connection. Links to official forms still need one.

How do I install it? - iPhone: in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen." - Android: tap "Install Shingle" in the app, or choose "Install app" from your browser menu. - Installing on iPhone also helps keep your data from being cleared.

How do I delete everything? Go to Settings and tap "Start over."

Does Shingle upload buyer documents? No. Buyers send pre-approval letters and proof of funds to you directly. Shingle only keeps your checkmarks, on your device.

What happens when I use "Talk to 5K Realty"? Your form goes to 5K Realty through our form service, and Michael Ingold will call you. See the privacy policy for details.

Which areas does Shingle cover? Greater Charlotte, in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Is Shingle legal advice? No. Shingle gives you educational information. It is not legal, tax, or real estate advice. Shingle recommends having a real estate attorney handle all legal matters, including your contract and closing.

Do I have to hire 5K Realty? No. "Want us to handle it?" is optional. You can use all of Shingle without hiring 5K Realty.
